Waterlogging Effects in Adventitious Roots, Tillering and Yield of Bread Wheat Germplasm

چکیده
In the context of climate changes, expected increases in intensity, frequency, and unpredictability waterlogging events will aggravate wheat yield losses, currently estimated to range between 20-50%. Wheat production must fulfill ca. 20% population’s energy protein requirements. Evaluating germplasm with different backgrounds may reveal variability for tolerance, allowing a better selection genotypes desirable traits breeding programs. this work, effect on adventitious root emission, tiller survival was evaluated. Five studied groups (Portuguese Landraces; Varieties introduced Italian germplasm; Post-Green Revolution varieties CYMMIT Advanced Lines from Portuguese Cereal Breeding Program; Australian varieties) were studied. Groups exhibited intra intervariability all parameters response imposed climatized growth chambers. After 14 days waterlogging, number roots ranged 0 7.6 plant-1, 4 Landraces depicting highest number. The living tillers at end stress highly variable, ranging reductions 100% up 35%. At harvest, productive significantly differed among genotypes, reaching some cases 138% others. existence identification key underlying tolerance contribute develop more adapted plants improve yield.

Assessing genetic diversity for yield and quality traits in indigenous bread wheat germplasm
The present investigation was planned to assess genetic diversity for yield, yield contributing traits and quality traits in three hundred indigenous germplasm of bread wheat. The germplasm along with 4 checks were evaluated in augmented design at the Crop Research Centre of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar during 2008-09. On the basis of dissimilarity coefficient, th...

متن کاملStudy of genetic diversity in bread wheat germplasm using nitrogen uptake and nitrogen use efficiency characteristics
In order to evaluate the traits related to nitrogen utilization and to identify the superior genotypes, 33 bread wheat landraces along three check cultivars of Chamran and Koohdasht (from Iran) and Gobustan (from the Republic of Azerbaijan) were studied in simple lattice statistical design with two replications under two treatments of non-usage and application of 200 kg/ha ammonium nitrate fert...

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: By progeny trial after a diallel crossing, the function of genes and inheritance of quantitative traits can be estimated. This increases the ability to select parental lines, to participate in crosses, and determines the management of generations in the segregating populations. Material and Methods: In order to understand the genetic structure of ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Yield and Yield Components of Bread and Durum Wheat Genotypes
The present study aimed at investigating the effect of different levels of nitrogen on yield and yield components of bread and durum wheat. To this end the experiment was conducted in 2010-2011 in south west of Iran as split plots based on randomized complete block design with three replications. Main plot included four levels of nitrogen 60, 120, 180, 240 kg.ha-1 and the sub plot included four...
